Yesterday we took a little trip out to crafts in the pen. What is crafts in the pen? Crafts in the pen is a craft marketplace that happens yearly at the Skipton Auction Mart. It features 230 independent stalls and also features a Santa’s grotto complete with elves!
As you know I moved to Skipton in the summer and have been trying to get involved with local events so I can share our expierences with you. :) Unlike our trip to Yarndale I hadn’t heard of this event before. But when I moved here i saw it was well known with the makers and crafters. As far as i know crafts in the pen is now in it’s 4th year and is growing every year. Entry is just £5 per adult and under 16’s go free! So for 2 adults and three kids it was just £10 which was a really cheap day out for us! (Usually we have to buy family tickets to event plus an extra child :/)
Anyhoo the event... There was a lot less signage to CITP than at yarndale. (I’m guessing that’s because yarndale is bigger? But It would have been good to see more advertising and directions) Overall the event was a lot less busy than yarndale. But this was also a good thing as it meant we could actually move!
So here are some of the shots from today followed by my top 3 favourite makers from the day!
First up Magic In The Grass
Omgosh! This stall was gorgeous! Everything was amazing quality and i fell in love with so many things... I’m kicking myself for not buying the earrings pictured above and gonna have to pop to her website and grab those! Magic in the grass is run by a lovely girl by the name of Nikki and she handcrafts the most beautiful shiny jewellery! Any hoo like i say kicking myself for not handing over my wallet and buying one of everything...
Next up... Joy Impressions! Joy impressions is based over in Ilkley and is run by a very talented mum by the name of Tara. I fell in love with her gorgeous Christmas ornaments as well as the fingerprint jewellery service. Her quality again is just outstanding so I’d defiantly advise checking out her shop.
And last up is Katie Timson. Katie makes the most beautiful ceramics and I fell in love with every single one of her products! I ended up purchasing one of her beautiful egg necklaces (because they reminded me of mini eggs and anything that reminds you of food is a win!😁) her egg necklaces are made with hand sculpted porcelain and you can really feel the love in each piece she’s made. I’m definitely a new fan of Katie and will definitely be purchasing more in future!
Would I recommend visiting? Yes! If you’re in the Yorkshire area then i would defiantly take a little visit to the yearly craft fair. It is open over two days so if you can’t do Saturdays then theres always Sunday :)
My little ones absolutely loved seeing all the hand made items as well as visiting Santa, getting a gift and seeing reindeer! So I would say it’s also good for all ages. My toddler got a little bored of walking around but was easily perked up with a little bribery of a chocolate bar 😂
I hope you enjoyed this weeks post! Lemme know if you’d like to see more posts like this in future or your thoughts on crafts in the pen in the comments below.
